Cranial Nerve Lesions

 Born in a humble middle class Priestly family, he was destined to be different from the rest. Turning vegetarian even before his Navjote at the age of 6 1/2 spoke of his love for nature and other living beings on this planet. So looking at this background, one wonders if one is reading the biography of an internationally renowned neurosurgeon. He completed MBBS in 1968 and qualified as a Neurosurgeon (MS Neurosurgery) from Grant Medical College and J.J. Hospital (Bombay University) in 1975, and later trained in Germany with the legendary Professor Madjid Samii. He obtained the American Board in Clinical Neurological Surgery, and, American Board in Neurological and Orthopedic Medicine and Surgery in 1991, and was awarded several other fellowships (FICS, FICG, FAIS, FACS and Hon. FRCSE) over the years.Currently, he is the Professor and Head of Department of Neurosurgery at Bombay Hospital, Mumbai which he joined in 1988.

Professionally he could continue to pursue his talent both as an artist and as a Scientist. Through the lens of his surgical microscope, he saw nature in its myriad forms, and his technical slides and movies are internationally acclaimed for their authenticity, creativity, Scientific and Technical value.His mechanical background (his father was a dealer in sewing Machines) helped him design several new surgical instruments, and his love for languages helped him converse freely with patients and colleagues not only in several Indian languages but also in Arabic, German and French.
